Workshop “Grand Strategy in Europe – Past, Present, Future”
June 4 @ 9:00 – 18:00
The event is dedicated to strategic thinking in Germany and how it can be further developed across society as a whole. Drawing on historical experience, it analyzes current security policy challenges—from the Zeitenwende to hybrid threats—as well as international strategies. Finally, it turns to future requirements for a comprehensive, society-wide approach to strategy formation. Experts from academia, politics, the military, and industry will discuss key questions concerning the strategic capacity of Germany and Europe. The event is structured into three thematic blocks:
- “Strategy Yesterday” examines historical patterns of strategic decision-making;
- “Strategy Today” analyzes current strategies of other states and Germany’s role;
- “Strategy Tomorrow” discusses future requirements for a whole-of-society approach to strategy formation, incorporating technology, industry, and politics
