Colonel Dr. Markus Reisner, PhD, is an officer in the Austrian Armed Forces.
He holds a doctorate in History and a PhD from the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna. After serving abroad in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chad, Central Africa, and Mali, as well as a position in the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, he was the commander of the Guards from 2022 to 2024 and is currently the head of the Institute for Officer Training at the Theresian Military Academy.
His research focuses on the use and future of unmanned reconnaissance and weapon systems, as well as historical and current military issues. Colonel Reisner is the author of several books and has been the head of the Research Department at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt since June 2020.
